Shaving Brushes: Hair Types, Knot & Care
Natural hair and synthetic fibres vary with construction and model. A hair type guarantees neither skin tolerance nor a fixed drying time.
Knot and loft
Knot diameter describes the width of the bundle at its base. Loft is the exposed hair length above the handle. Material, density, shape, glue setting and loft jointly affect feel; individual millimetre values do not guarantee softness.
Cleaning and drying
Thoroughly rinse soap out with lukewarm water and gently shake out excess water. Do not wring or blow-dry. Allow ventilation and pack in a travel case only when fully dry. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for drying position and additional cleaning products.
Heavy, persistent shedding or unpleasant odour calls for checking cleaning and condition. Conditioner and fixed break-in schedules are not universal solutions.
