Safe blade disposal
Even a used blade that tugs can still cut. Protect yourself and others when collecting and disposing of blades.
Use a suitable container
Use a purpose-made puncture-resistant blade container or suitable blade bank. Follow the fill limit and closure instructions. Do not overfill or reach inside. Open and empty it only if designed for that purpose, following its instructions. Keep it away from children and pets.
Improvised containers may break or be punctured. Cutting a slot into a tin with a knife is not a necessary craft project; a suitable ready-made container avoids sharp improvised edges.
Check local disposal requirements
Razors and recycling systems differ. Ask your local waste service whether and how it accepts a sealed blade container. Stainless steel is recyclable in principle, but not every collection point accepts small sharp objects.
Do not put loose blades in packaging collections, rubbish, drains or public litter bins. “Always general waste” or “always scrap metal” is not a worldwide rule.
While travelling
Carry a small suitable blade container and transport it closed. Do not use old disposal slots in hotel walls unless their intended use has been confirmed. Before flying, check current requirements with the relevant airport or security authority.
