A symptom guide for shaving problems
Symptoms can have several causes. Use this overview for orientation, not self-diagnosis.
| Observation | Possible connection | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Burning after several passes | Friction, pressure or dry lather | Stop shaving; calm the skin |
| Bumps after very close shaving | Ingrown hairs are possible | Do not pierce them; rest the area |
| Itching after a new product | Irritation or allergy is possible | Stop the product and seek advice if symptoms persist |
| Tugging during shaving | Blade, preparation or angle may be unsuitable | Stop and check the tool and lather |
| Cut | Blade movement or pressure | Stop bleeding with pressure, clean and cover |
Once the skin settles, change one variable at a time and record the reaction in your journal. Painful, hot, pus-filled or spreading changes and fever need medical assessment. Heavy bleeding or breathing difficulty is an emergency.
